NKR Continental was founded in 1956 by Mdm Tan Siew Kheng, beginning as a manufacturer of commercial refrigerators and freezers. In 1972, our capabilities expanded into the production of commercial stainless‑steel kitchen equipment, strengthening our foundation in the foodservice industry.

Throughout the 1980s, we played a key role in reshaping Singapore’s coffeeshop landscape through major collaborations with F&N and YHS (Yeo’s). This decade also marked our entry into the restaurant sector, where we supplied and installed Singapore’s first Island Cooking Suite at the Royal Crowne Plaza Hotel.

In the 1990s, we continued to pioneer new solutions for the market. We introduced Singapore’s first Sushi Robots, delivered the first Fine Dining Show Kitchen at the Mezzanine in the Grand Hyatt Hotel, and developed the first specially designed Hospital Food Delivery System, setting new industry standards for innovation and efficiency.

From the 2000s onward, our focus expanded to partnerships with educational and training institutions to build culinary schools, training kitchens, and foodservice facilities. We also collaborated with major corporations to design and equip corporate cafeterias and large‑scale office pantries.

In 2020, NKR Continental joined the Yoshimura Food Holdings family, marking a new chapter of growth and strengthening our commitment to elevating foodservice experiences across Asia.
